Yuki Tsunoda sets unwanted Red Bull record as F1 woes continue

Yuki Tsunoda's bad F1 form has set a new unwanted Red Bull record.

Yuki Tsunoda is currently enduring the worst run of form in Red Bull's 21-year history in F1.

The Japanese racer finished the Hungarian Grand Prix in 17th place to record a seventh consecutive race outside the points, having last scored with a 10th at Imola in May.

Excluding Did Not Finishes (DNFs), no Red Bull driver has ever gone seven successive races without troubling the points.

Tsunoda's form is of a major concern to the already-in-trouble Red Bull, as he has contributed only seven points out of the team's tally of 194.

If Max Verstappen's 187 points were scrubbed, Red Bull would be last in the standings on just those seven points, with Tsunoda earning no extra points if the Dutchman were removed.

His best result since Imola was a 12th in Canada, where he started a penalised 18th after overtaking Oscar Piastri under red flag conditions in practice, earning a 10-place grid penalty.

The absolute outright record for a Red Bull driver not scoring points in consecutive races, including DNFs, is Christian Klien between the 2006 Malaysian and German Grands Prix.

However, the Austrian retired from six of those 11 races, and only had two back-to-back finishes in Britain and Canada.
