Red Bull issue Isack Hadjar health update as injury endures

Red Bull has now confirmed that Isack Hadjar will remain sidelined for this weekend's Italian Grand Prix, with the Frenchman and the Milton Keynes-based team opting to proceed with caution.

The 21-year-old injured his wrist while training in the build-up to the Dutch Grand Prix, but is still experiencing pain, so he will not compete at Monza either.

Liam Lawson, who deputised alongside Max Verstappen, will continue in the RB22, having secured a strong seventh-place finish at Zandvoort.

That means that Yuki Tsunoda will stay put in the New Zealander's Racing Bulls machine, next to Arvid Lindblad.

It is not yet clear whether Hadjar will be healthy enough to return to the cockpit for the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix at the Madring, which next weekend, but Red Bull and the one-time podium finisher are not taking any risks at this stage.

Upon confirmation of the news that RacingNews365 broke, the six-time constructors' champions said: "Liam Lawson will drive alongside Max Verstappen at the Italian Grand Prix in Monza, while Isack continues to make encouraging progress following the wrist injury sustained during the summer break.

"The team is closely monitoring his rehabilitation and will take no unnecessary risks with his return to competition and wishes him a speedy recovery."

Verstappen will sit out FP1, as Ayumu Iwasa takes over his car for the Japanese driver's third FP1 session of the year, having driven the Red Bull at the Barcelona-Catalunya Grand Prix and the VCARB 03 the following week in Austria.
