Yuki Tsunoda believes he has done everything "I can control" to retain his Red Bull seat as the 2026 decision looms.
Tsunoda is one of a series of contenders for the seat alongside Max Verstappen for next season, although Red Bull is believed to be favouring promoting Isack Hadjar with Tsunoda potentially returning to Racing Bulls.
Although it has been a difficult season for the Japanese racer, he has scored strong results of late, including a pair of seventh-places in the United States, and a Red Bull-best of sixth in Azerbaijan.
Looking ahead to the Red Bull decision, after a Mexico City GP in which a slow pit-stop cost him another points result, Tsunoda was hopeful his form would be enough to save him.
"I'm sure you guys don't know exactly when they are going to decide it," Tsunoda told media, including RacingNews365.
"But I am sure you don't know, and I don't know as well, but [in Mexico], I had confidence, I maximised the things I can control, and so hopefully they consider that.
"But it is up to them, so I will just keep pushing what I can control, and that is it. I am always motivated, and I think for half the season, I've been consistent and shown something.
"This is still the direction I want to go."
