Toto Wolff and Fred Vasseur shared a laugh together before F1 75 Live over Lewis Hamilton leaving the former for the latter.
Of course, specifically, the British driver has left Mercedes for Ferrari, but the two team principals enjoyed a light-hearted back-and-forth based on Wolff's recent comments about seeing the seven-time F1 drivers' champion in Scuderia scarlet for the first time.
Hamilton spent 12 years with the Brackley-based squad, helping the team to eight constructors' titles and all but one of his own crowns in that time.
They formed the most successful team-driver pairing in F1 history, with Wolff at the helm for the duration of that run.
However, the 40-year-old officially joining Ferrari evidently stirred up strong feelings in his old boss, with the Austrian claiming it was like seeing an ex-partner with their new flame for the first time, which he reiterated last night before Vasseur took him off track with a witty interjection.
"I think now it's Fred's headache," the Mercedes team principal replied to BBC Sport on the red carpet for F1 75 Live when asked about his prior remarks.
"It's like you have an amicable divorce, you stay friends, but then the first time you see her with a new partner it's a bit...," he added before being cut off by Vasseur.
"You to pay the pension, no? Or something like this when you get divorced, no?" the Frenchman humorously chimed in.
"But he's remarrying," Wolff quipped back as both laughed together. "You have taken over... Your problem [now]."
