Will McLaren dominate the 2025 F1 season?

Lando Norris secured victory in the season-opening Australian Grand Prix, with McLaren having looked dominant in Melbourne.

McLaren entered the 2025 Formula 1 season as the clear favourites, a label which has further increased following the Australian Grand Prix. Lando Norris converted pole position into victory at Albert Park, ahead of Max Verstappen and George Russell.  It was looking set to be a McLaren one-two, only for Oscar Piastri to spin late in the race after being caught out by a sudden heavy rain shower.  Verstappen had no answer to the McLarens, with the Dutchman having revealed after the grand prix that the Woking-based team had incredible tyre management.  In qualifying, Norris was four tenths quicker than the four-time world champion in third, illustrating McLaren's advantage over one-lap.  Many in the paddock expect McLaren to take some catching from Red Bull, Mercedes and Ferrari.
