Max Verstappen has joked that he deserves a new contract from Red Bull after claiming the team's 100th Formula 1 win at the Canadian Grand Prix. The Dutchman extended his lead in the 2023 World Championship standings to 69 points from teammate Sergio Perez after taking another P1 result in Montreal, marking his sixth victory of the campaign so far. This also marked a milestone in Red Bull's history, being win number 100 for the team since they entered the sport back in 2005. Verstappen is responsible for many of those victories, as he light-heartedly pointed out after the race.
Verstappen sets new F1 win target
"I've won 41 of them! We'll talk about maybe a new contract because of that!" Verstappen joked to media, including RacingNews365.com , after his latest win in Canada. "No, honestly, it's a great achievement for the team. We knew that this was the first opportunity, of course, to do so, and I'm happy that's done." Verstappen is keen for his and Red Bull's winning streak to continue well into the future. "We've won 100. But again, I hope we win more than 100," the two-time World Champion said. "So the new target is 200."
