Valtteri Bottas has suggested that Toto Wolff will be “happy” with Lewis Hamilton's podium result at the Chinese Grand Prix.
Hamilton and Bottas spent five seasons together at Mercedes from 2017 to 2021 under Wolff's leadership, forming one of the most successful partnerships in F1 history.
The drivers have since gone on to fresh challenges, with Hamilton joining Ferrari at the start of 2025.
However, it took until last weekend's race in China for Hamilton to score his first podium finish with the Italian squad.
Despite the seven-time champion enjoying success with a rival team, Bottas is confident Wolff will have taken pleasure from watching Hamilton's race.
“They did go well here last year, but I hope that continues,” Bottas told media including RacingNews365. “It's good to see him performing well.
“They're actually not that far from Mercedes. I think Toto will be happy with that podium.”
Hamilton endured a troubling first season with Ferrari in 2025, leading to serious doubts over his F1 future.
However, the 41-year-old has appeared rejuvenated at the start of the new season and much happier behind the wheel.
But for Bottas, the progression has come as no surprise.
“Last year he had his ups and downs, probably lost a bit of his confidence at some point, again, back at the end of the year,” he said.
“So I always knew that the second year would be way easier for him. He knows how everything works, there's less pressure.
“He's one year older - he's still very young! Really good to see.”
