Liam Lawson outlines 'goal' for F1 season second half

Liam Lawson has detailed his “personal goal” for the remainder of the 2026 F1 season.

The New Zealander has enjoyed a strong first half to the campaign, regularly finishing inside the top 10.

With 11 races in the books, Lawson sits on 43 points, representing a significant improvement on his form last year when he was recovering from his early-season demotion from Red Bull.

As the season prepares to resume in two weeks, Lawson revealed that keeping his name inside the top 10 is his primary objective.

“On a personal perspective or personal goal, it's just scoring points in as many weekends as we can, extracting everything out of the car, and wherever that puts me at the end of the year will be what it will be,” he told F1.

“It’s more just knowing that I've done everything I can.”

Despite his impressive run of performances, Lawson’s seat for 2027 is not guaranteed, with speculation surrounding a potential promotion for Nikola Tsolov continuing to grow.

However, as he fights to retain his place on the grid, Lawson insisted he is not targeting a specific position in the drivers’ championship.

“There's no specific place that I'm trying to finish or something like that. It's very hard to have that kind of expectation in Formula 1, especially when you're in the midfield.

“But if we can be the best midfield team, then I think we would have done our job as drivers as well.”
