There will be a total of five former F1 drivers taking part in the 2026 Indy 500.
The most successful of the quintet is 10-time podium finisher Romain Grosjean whose career ended after his monstrous fiery accident at the 2020 Bahrain Grand Prix.
There is also another podium finisher on the grid at Indy in Takuma Sato, who has enjoyed more success at The Brickyard than in F1.
Sato became the first Asian winner of the 500 in 2017, and won again in 2020 to eclipse his sole F1 podium - which ironically came at the 2004 United States GP on the IMS road course.
Elsewhere, Mick Schumacher, former Haas driver in 2021 and 2022 will be taking part in his first Indy 500, whilst former Marussia driver Alexander Rossi and former Sauber and Alfa Romeo racer Marcus Ericsson returns once again.
Both Rossi and Ericsson are winners of the Indy 500, Rossi doing so in 2016 on his debut after leaving F1 at the end of '15, and Ericsson, who claimed victory in 2022.
