Franco Colapinto has outlined his latest F1 goal after securing a drive on the 2027 grid with Alpine.

The deal was announced last week, with Alpine opting to retain an unchanged line-up by keeping Colapinto alongside Pierre Gasly, who is secured on a long-term deal.

Colapinto joined Alpine last year after replacing Jack Doohan just a handful of rounds into the season.

It was a tormenting campaign for the Enstone-based squad as it placed its resources into its 2026 challenger, which has been a regular point-scorer this year.

Colapinto's performances aided the team's decision to keep him for another year, and the Argentine pledged to continue to play his part in pushing the team forward.

“Of course, very happy to continue - very, very happy and grateful to the team that has done an amazing job since I started,“ Colapinto told media including RacingNews365.

“Last year was tricky, this year we have made a big step together as a team, and it's great to continue this journey together and to be able to keep working as a family for next season.

“We have a lot of work to do, and we are going to try hard to keep developing and keep improving as a team, that's the goal for us.”

In contrast to its approach last year, Colapinto has suggested Alpine will not halt the development of its current car in a bid to start next year's campaign in an even stronger position.

As it targets a top five finishing position for the first time since 2022, Colapinto insisted its goal is to end the year as high as it can in the standings.

“It's great to be with the team for another year,” he added. “Of course, we have to keep working a lot.

“We are going to be pushing this year. First, our goal isto finish as high as we can, and then, of course, we want another step for 2027.”
