Ferrari team principal Fred Vasseur has confirmed that the Scuderia will introduce its latest engine upgrade at this weekend's Italian Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton and Charles Leclerc's SF-26s will be fitted with a second power unit upgrade of the season as part of the Additional Development Upgrade Opportunities (ADUO) scheme, with Ferrari having further opportunities to upgrade its engine next year.
The Maranello-based outfit has historically always introduced a significant upgrade at Monza, with it being the most important event on the calendar for the Scuderia.
With a sea of red awaiting Ferrari in the grandstands, much is expected of Hamilton and Leclerc, especially with the team still having a chance of winning both titles.
For that, a good weekend in Italy is needed for both drivers, who will be wearing special race suits in recognition of Michael Schumacher, while the SF-26 has a one-off livery.
Monza is all about horsepower and top speed, two factors Ferrari has lacked in 2026. The hope will be that the new power unit changes that.
"Monza is always a very special weekend for Ferrari," said Vasseur. "Racing in front of our Tifosi gives the whole team incredible energy and this year there will be an additional emotional dimension as we celebrate Michael Schumacher and the legacy he has left in our company.
"His relentless pursuit of improvement, attention to detail and strong belief in teamwork are values that remain key to us today. On the performance side, we are introducing an updated power unit as part of the development opportunities available under ADUO.
"It represents a step in the right direction and as we know this year is very much about marginal gains. Monza is a demanding circuit and the field is extremely close, and our priority will be to execute every aspect of the weekend as well as possible, from Friday onwards.
"We want to draw extra motivation from the passion of our home crowd and give our Tifosi a strong weekend."
