Singapore qualifying red-flagged after huge Stroll accident

Lance Stroll crashed heavily at the final corner to bring Q1 to an early end in Singapore.

Lance Stroll crashed heavily during the closing stags of the first qualifying segment at the Singapore Grand Prix to bring out red-flags. With the track ramping up on the second runs, Stroll was 20th in the Aston Martin having been impeded by Logan Sargeant earlier in the session, which the stewards will investigate. On his final lap, Stroll got on the kerb at rounding the final high-speed left-handers, with the car snapping to the right and almost colliding head on with the barrier on the outside. The left-front wheel was torn from the tethers as the Aston Martin came to rest in the middle of the track with Stroll radioing to his engineer that he was okay, but was transported by the medical car to the medical centre for a check-up as is the case in any high-speed accident. Valtteri Bottas, Oscar Piastri, Logan Sargeant, Zhou Guanyu and Stroll were the drivers eliminated, but Stroll is likely to start from the pit-lane for a replacement chassis such is the extent of damage.
