Sergio Pérez has pulled out of his home fan forum in Mexico City after falling ill on the morning of his home grand prix weekend.
The 36-year-old was due to greet supporters at the event ahead of first practice at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez, but the team opted to give him extra time to recover rather than risk his condition worsening before the track sessions.
Cadillac released a statement explaining the decision, which also addressed the impact on Pérez's weekend schedule.
"Checo Pérez will unfortunately be unable to attend today's fan forum at his home grand prix due to illness," read the statement. "Both he and the team apologise to all the fans who have come out to see him.
"Checo and the team have taken the decision to allow him additional time to rest and recover this morning, ahead of today's on-track sessions.
"His participation in the remainder of the race weekend, including FP1 and FP2, is not affected.
"We thank our fans for their understanding and support and look forward to seeing you on track."
Pérez is not the only Cadillac driver to have been troubled by illness this week. Team-mate Valtteri Bottas withdrew from his media duties on Thursday after also falling unwell.
But the Finn has since been declared fit to take part, with Cadillac confirming he was given the all-clear this morning to join second practice.
