Kimi Antonelli and Valtteri Bottas have both been cleared to take part in practice for the Mexico City Grand Prix after illness forced them to miss their media commitments on Thursday.
Antonelli, who can secure the F1 drivers' title this weekend, was excused from all mandatory Thursday media sessions at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez while recovering from a viral illness, with Mercedes confirming the Italian's absence had been approved as a precaution.
Bottas, meanwhile, skipped his own Thursday duties after feeling unwell, with Cadillac granting him a rest day to aid his recovery rather than disclosing a specific diagnosis.
Under FIA regulations, any driver who falls ill at a grand prix weekend must be assessed by team medical staff before being signed off as fit to drive by the FIA Medical Delegate at the circuit medical centre.
Both Antonelli and Bottas have now gone through that process and been given the all-clear to appear in Friday's running.
A Mercedes spokesperson confirmed the 20-year-old Antonelli has recovered in time for FP1, stating: "He's all good and so will be in the car today."
Bottas will resume his normal weekend programme in Mexico City for FP2, with the Finn making way for Colton Herta, who is poised to complete enough laps that will see him finally acquire his FIA Super Licence.
A Cadillac statement read: "Valtteri will fulfil all media duties and take part in free practice 2 today as planned.
Neither driver's illness is understood to carry any lasting fitness concerns heading into the rest of the weekend, though it remains unclear exactly what symptoms triggered their absences in the first place.
