The 10 F1 rookies who will drive during Mexico City FP1

The opening practice session of the Mexico City Grand Prix weekend will feature 10 rookies during the 60-minute outing.

As per Article B1.7.3 of the sporting regulations, F1 teams are required to provide two practice outings per car during the season to give experience to rookie drivers.

The Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez has proven to be a popular location to do so this year, with Ferrari being the only squad not to nominate a substitute for the opening practice segment.

At the front of the field, Fred Vesti will once again jump behind the wheel, standing in for George Russell in what will be his seventh FP1 appearance.

Reigning Formula 2 champion Leonardo Fornaroli will climb aboard the McLaren for the third time this year, while Ayumu Iwasa will have another appearance at Red Bull.

There will be three FP1 debutants on Friday - Nikola Tsolov for Racing Bulls, Freddie Slater for Audi and Gabriele Mini for Alpine.

Luke Browning will have another outing with Williams, while Jak Crawford and Ryo Hirakawa will fulfil duties at Aston Martin and Haas, respectively.

Finally, Colton Herta is having another go at Cadillac, and depending on his mileage during the session, he could finally be eligible to pick up a super licence required to race in F1.
