Sergeant explains important help from Vowles

The Williams rookie revealed that James Vowles has been helping him get on top of issues.

Logan Sargeant has explained how Williams Team Principal, James Vowles, has helped him get on top of issues during his rookie season. The American has yet to score a point so far in the 2023 season and struggled to match teammate Alex Albon with Q3 appearances. But he has received guidance from Vowles, who previously worked with rookie drivers in his role at Mercedes as Motorsport Strategy Director. Sargeant told media, including RacingNews365.com : "Yeah 100 per-cent, I think because he's worked with young drivers in the past. "He also drives himself so he's quite switched on from a driving sense, and he just understands F1 better than anyone I've personally ever spoke to. "In that sense he's been super helpful in trying to help me develop as a driver and get on top of the issues. He's been one of the leaders and pushing that and trying to help me overcome them."

Sargeant: Bahrain easiest round to start with

The American believes the race in Bahrain is easy for rookies to acclimatise, due to the amount of testing they do prior to the start of the season. "Bahrain was always going to be one of the easiest rounds of the year, to be honest," explained Sargeant. "You come off three days of testing and go into it on a track that we've done, hundreds and hundreds of laps on. That one's going to be a little bit easier than the rest. "Not to mention, we had a pretty decent car in terms of pace to start the year. So it was a little bit easier. "From then it started to get a little bit more difficult and maybe started to head a little bit in the wrong direction. Luckily, it didn't take us too long to start to figure out what those things were and start turning it back around the other way."
