Red Bull roll out latest upgrade in Max Verstappen F1 title bid

Red Bull has rolled out another upgrade for its RB21 it hopes will finally help Max Verstappen end his winless Singapore Grand Prix drought.

In eight previous attempts, Verstappen has never won around the Marina Bay Street Circuit, with his best result finishing runner-up on two prior occasions.

This year, Verstappen goes into the famed night race on the back of consecutive pole-to-flag victories in Italy and Azerbaijan, with the platform for those triumphs a new floor that provided greater aero grip and stability introduced ahead of the race at Monza.

That circuit, however, is very low downforce, with the Baku City Circuit, predominantly low downforce. The Singapore track, by contrast, is high downforce, and it remains to be seen if the RB21 will perform as well.

To aid Verstappen's quest, Red Bull is introducing a new front wing, with 'locally increased cambers to extract more load'. The team says it is "an evolution of the design, taking further research to increase the camber of some wing sections to extract more load whilst maintaining flow stability".

In other words, it should prove to be of considerable benefit on the higher downforce track.

There is also a new engine cover on the car that contains an "enlarged exit from the overall top body which is more efficient than opening louvres or creating larger louvres to raise the overall cooling capacity", which is important given the high temperatures in Singapore.

McLaren and Ferrari, in stark contrast, have no new declared elements on their cars this weekend. Mercedes, meanwhile, has reprofiled a front-wing flap which "drops the local load to allow an appropriate car balance to be achieved" for the circuit.

For the remaining teams - Aston Martin, Alpine, Haas, Racing Bulls, Williams and Sauber - like McLaren and Ferrari, there is nothing new on their cars.
