Red Bull team principal Laurent Mekies has highlighted the “simple truth” behind Red Bull's dip in form at recent rounds.
Prior to the Mexico City Grand Prix, the team had won three out of the previous four races, which brought Max Verstappen into late title contention.
However, the last two races have been won by McLaren's Lando Norris, leaving Verstappen 49 points down on the championship lead.
Mekies has denied that the recent setback is track-related, insisting the challenge is rooted in getting the car in the right operating window every race weekend.
“I would not blame the track really, I think it's always very difficult and sometimes you manage it better than all the time,” he told media including RacingNews365.
“I think that's the simple truth.
“But it's easy to forget how difficult it is to do it even when you win. So it's simply very difficult every race.”
Red Bull now sit third in the constructors' championship with three rounds remaining, 32 points adrift of Mercedes.
Mekies asserted Red Bull is not looking at the standings as it aims to close out the season on a high.
“The simple truth is, the focus is how can we maximise our chance to get the car in the 'alive' window for Las Vegas. The rest is a consequence.
“Nobody is thinking about either championship; we are just thinking about what to do with the Las Vegas constraints.
"We know it's very different, very, very low downforce, extremely cold windows for the tyres. How do we get the car to perform there? And then the rest is a consequence."
