Max Verstappen's pole position for the Bahrain Grand Prix was his 33rd - putting him equal level with Alain Prost.
It's not just Prost's pole tally Verstappen will be hoping to match in 2024, with the Frenchman one of just five drivers to be a four-time World Champion, with the Dutchman starting his pursuit well with a grand chelem in Bahrain.
Speaking exclusively to RacingNews365 about Verstappen equalling his pole record, Prost is sure that it won't be too long before Verstappen passes him.
"It was great that Verstappen took pole position and I am sure that now number 34 will soon follow," he said.
"Probably already at the next Grand Prix [he will get his 34th pole.
"I think Red Bull is going to dominate this year. The rest might get a little closer, but in the end Red Bull will still be too strong. Ferrari will also not be strong enough to win the world title."
Victory in Bahrain was the 55th of Verstappen's career, having climbed to third on the all-time wins list with victory in the 2023 finale in Abu Dhabi passing Sebastian Vettel's 53.
Verstappen passed Prost's tally of 51 with victory in Sao Paulo.
