Oscar Piastri has vowed to reset and take advantage of his next opportunity in the São Paulo Grand Prix weekend following another shock to the system and blow to his F1 drivers' championship chances.
For the fourth time in five grands prix, Piastri suffered a major crash, on this occasion dipping the front-left wheel of his McLaren on a wet kerb out of the Senna S at Interlagos during the sprint race that spun him off track and into a barrier.
It follows incidents in qualifying and the grand prix in Azerbaijan, and in the previous sprint in Austin for the United States GP.
With McLaren team-mate Lando Norris going on to take victory from pole position, Piastri now trails the Briton going into qualifying for the São Paulo Grand Prix on Sunday by nine points.
Explaining that he did "nothing more than touch the white line" that led to his crash, it is now a question as to how he will regroup.
"Try to put this behind, I guess," said a disconsolate Piastri. "We'll see what weather we have for this afternoon.
"Obviously, there are a lot more points on offer for tomorrow, so the better job I can do this afternoon of trying to get myself a good starting spot, the better it will be."
As to his mindset, he reiterated: "The best thing I can do at the moment is try and move on from what's happened and try and have a good qualifying, and give myself a good opportunity for tomorrow."
