Kimi Antonelli elected to partake in an unusual celebration after winning his home grand prix for the first time last Sunday.

The 2026 Italian Grand Prix trophies, designed by artist duo Vedovamazzei and commissioned by Pirelli, were roundly teased in the build-up to the Monza weekend.

Fans and media alike compared the stacked, silver tower of cups and bowls to a pile of dirty dishes waiting by the sink.

Following his extraordinary victory on Sunday, the 20-year-old Mercedes driver was photographed eating spaghetti directly from the winner's trophy, posting the image as part of an Instagram carousel celebrating his home triumph.

Reports from Gazzetta dello Sport revealed that Antonelli had joked before the race that if he won from the back of the grid, he would eat pasta from the cup.

Antonelli started 19th after an engine penalty, gained seven places in the opening laps, benefited from a red flag triggered by Charles Leclerc's crash, and used a Virtual Safety Car period to pit for fresh medium tyres.

He completed 26 overtakes in total before passing team-mate George Russell with three laps remaining to become the first Italian to win at Monza since 1966.

“It’s hard to describe yesterday – it’s like a daydream,” Antonelli wrote on social media.

“What I experienced is something I’ll never forget: the podium at Monza is indescribable, the warmth of all the fans and the never-ending sea of people.

“I really want to thank everyone who made this possible and who are making this year so special.”
