Oscar Piastri has revealed he has endured “tough” conversations with the McLaren team during his F1 title battle this year.
Piastri led the standings for much of the season, but a setback in form after the summer break has seen team-mate Lando Norris move to the head of the drivers' championship.
Norris now holds a 24-point lead over Piastri with three rounds remaining, having won the last two grands prix.
Speaking on the Beyond the Grid podcast recently, Piastri disclosed that a controversial team orders incident at Monza weighed on his mind at the following round in Baku where he crashed out of both qualifying and the grand prix.
The Australian was asked about the comment in Las Vegas and admitted that the intra-team championship battle has resulted in difficult talks with McLaren during the year.
“There's definitely been some tough moments through the year and some tough conversations as well,” Piastri told media including RacingNews365.
“That's part of the game when you're fighting for a championship, things matter a lot.
“You're going to have those bumps in the road or things that you need to work out together as a team.”
Another flashpoint of the title fight occurred in Singapore, where Piastri was left irritated in Singapore following an opening lap contact with Norris.
But Piastri asserted his frustrations are not unique and declared he is content with how McLaren has managed both of its drivers throughout the season.
“I'm sure there's no one on the grid that's sitting there perfectly happy with every decision that's been made - whether it be from their team, from the stewards, from how they've driven themselves,” he said.
“So it is all part of it. There have been some tough conversations through the year and some things to kind of sort out and realign on.
“But I'm in a very comfortable place that we've done a good job of that as a team.”
