Oscar Piastri has confirmed McLaren has wiped the slate clean after the United States Grand Prix, with the Australian admitting his part in triggering the first corner crash that took him and Lando Norris out in the sprint.
Both MCL39s were terminally damaged, whilst F1 drivers' championship rival Max Verstappen scampered into the distance to win the one-third distance race in Austin.
It was a mere precursor for a dominant victory in the grand prix for the Red Bull driver, as he continues to close in on the papaya pair.
With five rounds to go, Piastri still leads the title fight, but his advantage has shrunk considerably in recent weeks. Poor form has plagued the 24-year-old, who is now just 14 points clear of Norris in the standings.
Perhaps more concerning for the nine-time grand prix winner, however, is the massively-reduced gap to Verstappen in third.
The Dutchman has slashed his deficit from 104 points to just 40 in only four rounds and undeniably has the momentum on his side.
Ahead of the Mexico City Grand Prix, Piastri has revealed there will be no repercussions placed on either him or his team-mate, who was initially handed a sanction by the Woking-based squad for his approach to the start in Singapore, the round before the trip to the Circuit of the Americas.
Speaking in the official FIA press conference at the Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez, the McLaren driver told media, including RacingNews365: "Yeah, we've gone through it again.
"We go through every weekend, regardless of what's happened. I think there is a degree of responsibility from my side in the sprint. And we're starting this weekend with a clean slate for both of us."
Piastri was later asked explicitly if Norris' consequences from Singapore have been removed and whether it was the aggressiveness of his cutback in Turn 1 during the sprint at COTA that was deemed to have crossed a line.
"Yes, the consequences on Lando's side have been removed," he stated in response. "And yes, ultimately, it was that.
"There's a lot of factors involved, but ultimately, yes, that's what's been decided."
