Nico Hulkenberg has highlighted it is his “dream” to achieve a first race win with Audi as the German manufacturer prepares for its first full season in F1.

Audi took to the track at the Barcelona shakedown last week but struggled with reliability.

Various issues hampered Audi's running throughout its three days of running, however it will have another chance to gather data at the Bahrain test next week.

Last year, Hulkenberg achieved a career breakthrough result as he took his first podium finish.

As he continues to tally up race starts and extend his record for the most entries without a grand prix win, he outlined his target to achieve a trip to the top step of the podium.

“That’s the dream, winning a race,” Hulkenberg told media including RacingNews365. “The podium is done.

“Winning a race is somewhat a target, a goal, a dream. It's about maximising your opportunities, the potential that's in the car, and just maximising it.

“Obviously, it all depends on where we start, how competitive we are this year. Still, we don't know compared to 10 minutes ago.

“Of course, it would be a dream come true, but we need to be a bit more patient and see where we are out of the blocks.”

When asked if his ultimate ambition is on his own personal success or ensuring a strong future for Audi, Hulkenberg replied: “Both - to help the project, be a valuable asset.

“But in the meantime, just make it as successful as possible for my own personal career, but also for the team’s.”
