Max Verstappen will not be present at the opening ceremonial parade in the town of Adenau on Wednesday as the 24 Hours of Nurburgring ticks ever nearer.
The 161 cars that are entering this weekend's race will not take to the track for the first time until Thursday, but on Wednesday, the festivities for the 24 Hours of Nürburgring will already burst into life.
A 4 PM parade through Adenau is scheduled, but Verstappen Racing will not be present for that, meaning the absence of drivers Max Verstappen, Jules Gounon, Dani Juncadella and Lucas Auer.
While the demanding endurance race has long been a highly decorated race, there is increased intrigue in it this year due to Verstappen's participation.
No more than 50 of the participating cars are present at the parade, but in the case of Verstappen, RacingNews365 has been told his attendance has been deliberately advised against.
This is due to the popularity of the four-time champion, as with a huge wave of fans attending the weekend, it would pose a safety risk, according to the organisers.
For the same reason, Max Verstappen will also not be present at the meet-and-greet and autograph session at the circuit later this weekend.
The organisation asserted that this is not due to unwillingness from the Dutchman, but rather a conscious choice from a safety standpoint.
