Racing Bulls in race against time with Arvid Lindblad

Arvid Lindblad was left facing an anxious wait to see how much track action he would see in final practice for the Spanish Grand Prix.

Around F1's newest circuit, the Madring in the north-east of the Spanish capital of Madrid, Lindblad was the only driver to spark a red flag across the two hour-long sessions on Friday.

The 22-corner Madring had been predicted in the build-up to cause chaos given the nature of the track.

But it was not until FP2 was 35 minutes old that the maiden stoppage occurred, with Lindblad, who has impressed in his rookie season with Racing Bulls, losing the rear end of his car into the fast Turn 13 left-hander.

Trying to hold the slide, the rear of the car initially hit a TecPro barrier, with the front following suit, leaving his mechanics with a major overnight repair job.

The damage was bad enough to spark a chassis change. The FIA confirmed shortly before the start of FP3 that the team had duly completed the scrutineering declaration form for Lindblad's car after a survival cell change.

As the session started, the Racing Bulls mechanics were seen frantically working on Lindblad's car.
