Max Verstappen has explained why his victory celebration was more animated than occasions in the past following his win in Las Vegas.
Verstappen took his sixth win of the campaign on Saturday night, crossing the line well ahead of Lando Norris who was later disqualified.
The Dutchman now sits 24 points down on Norris in the standings and is a credible threat for the title as the season enters its final two rounds.
It marks a surprise turnaround for Red Bull's season after it endured a dip in form in the mid-part of the campaign.
As it is forced to dig deep for victories more so than the likes of 2023 when Verstappen dominated, the 28-year-old highlighted his wins have a different feel compared to previous campaigns.
“It’s because they don't come as easy as 2023,” Verstappen told media including RacingNews365.
“So in 2023, it was more like ticking boxes. Now it's not like that, and we come from a very tough period, already last year.
“This year, it's been annoying at some stages as well. Everyone, of course, was not happy with the performances.
“Then to still have this kind of end to the season for us is amazing.”
Verstappen added the uptick in form after the period of adversity is delivering a strong boost of morale, which is seen in the post-race celebrations.
“So you need to enjoy that because it's a big motivational boost for everyone,” he said.
“And that's why - it works the same for me.”
