Kimi Antonelli finished the opening day of running at F1's newest circuit with the fastest lap.
Antonelli, the championship leader who holds a 66-point cushion over Mercedes team-mate George Russell, finished the second practice session for the Spanish Grand Prix at the Madring with a lap of 1:33.662s.
Ferrari duo Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were second and third quickest, both just over a tenth down, followed by the Racing Bulls of Arvid Lindblad.
Lindblad, however, caused the only red flag of the day across the two F1 sessions by crashing at the fast Turn 13 left-hander, leading to a 12-minute delay.
McLaren's Lando Norris finished bottom of the timesheet due to a gearbox issue early on, necessitating a change. Despite the team's best efforts to get the F1 champion back on track, he finished the session without a time to his name.
