Max Verstappen makes 'natural' vow over Red Bull F1 future

Max Verstappen is adamant his future in F1 with Red Bull will resolve itself naturally, insisting he is under no pressure from team boss Laurent Mekies to make a decision.

Not for the first time, Verstappen's future is the subject of intense speculation, not least due to Red Bull's form this season under the new regulations, leaving the Dutchman a lowly seventh in the standings, just over 100 points adrift of leader Kimi Antonelli.

Ahead of this weekend's Belgian Grand Prix at Spa-Francorchamps, during his Dutch media session, after previously speaking in the main FIA press conference, Verstappen was initially dismissive when asked about the topic.

"Well, I'm not going to say anything about that," he said. "Then it [the session] will be over before you know it."

Despite the swirling rumours, Verstappen maintains the team is relaxed regarding a resolution. "There's no pressure to put; it's just one step at a time," he said.

His focus, he added, remains squarely on performance. "All the conversations are about the car and how we need to move forward with it. In that regard, the atmosphere is just the same as it's always been. That's how it should be."

When asked directly whether he had reached a decision, Verstappen offered a measured denial before elaborating: "No, but you know, I'm just busy making sure we take the right steps.

"Aside from that, I went to my sister's wedding; it'll all work out naturally. It's always been that way."

There is no fixed deadline, with Verstappen confirming one is "not necessarily" required.

For those hoping to extract further clarity, he offered a blunt final remark. "I will just cut it short [by saying] I don't feel like talking about it. Then it's over immediately."
