Max Verstappen suffered a shock Q1 exit in qualifying for the São Paulo Grand Prix, marking a significant hammer blow to his F1 drivers' title hopes. 

The Dutchman could only manage 16th quickest in the first part of qualifying in Interlagos, while Red Bull team-mate Yuki Tsunoda was also eliminated in 19th.

Gabriel Bortoleto has been taken to the medical centre as a precaution after a terrifying airborne crash on the final lap of the São Paulo Grand Prix Sprint. 

The Brazilian driver suffered a huge crash at the first corner, which saw his car snap as he braked for Turn 1.

Stake F1 issue Gabriel Bortoleto medical update after horror crash

Stake F1 has issued a medical update on Gabriel Bortoleto following his horror crash on the final lap of the São Paulo Grand Prix Sprint. 

The home driver suffered a terrifying snap as he braked for the first corner, sending his car into the wall on the inside of the turn.

Oscar Piastri issues Lando Norris 'pressure' warning

Oscar Piastri has warned Lando Norris that he will try to apply "pressure" onto the championship leader in the São Paulo Grand Prix. 

After Piastri crashed out of the Sprint race in Interlagos, the Australian fell nine points behind Norris in the standings due to the Briton claiming victory.

Lando Norris outlines 'unnecessary pressure' scare in Brazil pole pursuit

Lando Norris outlined that he once again put himself under "unnecessary pressure" on his way to securing pole position for the São Paulo Grand Prix. 

Norris was in 10th after his first flying lap in the final part of qualifying following a big lock up at the first corner, costing him eight-tenths of a second.

Red Bull concede to 'paying painful price' in taking Max Verstappen 'risk'

Laurent Mekies has conceded to Red Bull and Max Verstappen paying a heavy price after his team opted to "take risks" with the four-time F1 champion's car.

Verstappen headed into São Paulo firmly in the hunt for a fifth consecutive F1 drivers' championship after closing the gap at the top of the standings to 36 points on McLaren's Lando Norris, with Oscar Piastri just a point behind his team-mate.
