Lando Norris outlined that he once again put himself under "unnecessary pressure" on his way to securing pole position for the São Paulo Grand Prix.
Norris was in 10th after his first flying lap in the final part of qualifying following a big lock up at the first corner, costing him eight-tenths of a second.
It put the championship leader under pressure to deliver a strong final lap, something he managed to do to claim back-to-back grand prix poles.
Norris has been fastest in Interlagos throughout the weekend in Brazil, and completed the perfect Saturday having claimed Sprint victory earlier in the day in what were difficult conditions.
Reflecting on securing pole, Norris said: "Again, tough out there with the conditions, just slippery, inconsistent, but good fun. It's always a pleasure around this track. I felt good.
"I was under a bit of pressure because I locked up on my first lap, so a little bit more stressful than what I would have liked, but I stayed calm and put it all together when it mattered. So very happy."
It has been a perfect weekend so far for Norris, with his sprint win having extended his advantage in the drivers' title to nine points after Oscar Piastri crashed out.
To add to Norris' momentum, Piastri could only qualify in fourth, while Max Verstappen was eliminated in Q1 and will start from 16th.
Discussing his momentum, Norris added: "We've been on very good form. The team are giving me a great car, of course. So I've always got to thank the team, but I didn't make it easy, for them or for myself.
"I'm still having to push, like in Q3, just locking up in turn one. It just puts unnecessary pressure on myself and the others are doing a good job.
"But, I think when I'm in a good rhythm, when I can stay calm, when I can just put it all together, then I'll be on top."
