Stake F1 has issued a medical update on Gabriel Bortoleto following his horror crash on the final lap of the São Paulo Grand Prix Sprint.
The home driver suffered a terrifying snap as he braked for the first corner, sending his car into the wall on the inside of the turn.
Bortoleto became an immediate passenger in the heavy accident, which saw his car bounce off the wall and go across the circuit at high-speed.
In doing so, his Sauber momentarily went airborne as he headed towards the barrier, before making huge contact with it.
His car finally came to rest on the run-off between the first and second corner, while substantial debris was scattered across the circuit.
Bortoleto immediately radioed to the Hinwil-based outfit that he was ok, although the Brazilian still visited the medical centre as a precaution.
Following his visit to the medical centre, the F1 rookie has received the all-clear; however, the team now face a significant repair job ahead of qualifying.
A Stake F1 statement read: "Following precautionary checks at the circuit’s Medical Centre, we are pleased to report that Gabriel Bortoleto is ok and uninjured.
"The team would like to thank the circuit marshals, F1 and the FIA and the Medical Centre staff for their superb care.
"The team will now focus on preparing the cars for this afternoon’s qualifying session."
