McLaren enter Sprint qualifying for the Qatar Sprint race as the clear favourite from pole position, following a dominant display in practice.
Oscar Piastri set the pace in practice at the Lusail International Circuit, although Lando Norris was only 0.058s adrift. It is a critical weekend for Norris, as he can secure the drivers' title.
Aston Martin's Fernando Alonso was McLaren's closest competitor in practice, but still almost four-tenths slower than Piastri.
Max Verstappen was sixth on the timesheets and nearly six-tenths down on Piastri, with the Dutchman having complained several times about his RB21.
