Liam Lawson has pointed to the “one thing” that could help him adjust to the seat at Red Bull this weekend at Zandvoort.
The New Zealander has been called up to replace Isack Hadjar at the Dutch Grand Prix after the latter suffered a wrist injury during the summer break.
It marks Lawson's second promotion to Red Bull after he spent the opening two rounds of the 2025 campaign with the team before being sent back to the sister squad following a disappointing stint.
However, he has since impressed for Racing Bulls, scoring eight top 10 finishes so far this year.
But with extra pressure on his shoulders at the sprint weekend from Zandvoort, Lawson stated that already being adjusted to the Red Bull power unit will aid him.
“At least the power unit is the same, so that's one thing that should hopefully help things,” he told media including RacingNews365.
“But in terms of the car itself, they're completely different. That's going to be for sure a challenge.
“It's just the nature of a sprint weekend having one practice session, I'm pretty aware that it's going to be a lot to build up to.
“To start, it's probably going to feel very foreign. I'm sure it's going to be quite tough.”
Lawson will only have 60 minutes to get up to speed in practice before being thrown back into competitive sessions.
Outlining how he prepared for the weekend ahead, Lawson added: “You're just going into a lot more detail about everything.
“Obviously, when you've done a lot of races and you're comfortable, everything's a bit more routine.
“This week, it's been a lot more detailed. [I am] focused on the differences that I'm going to feel driving the car and trying to be ready for those as well.”
