Liam Lawson has revealed that it is almost impossible to "avoid" a car ahead if it suddenly starts to recharge energy while in straight-line mode (SLM).
The new power unit regulations have resulted in major speed differences between cars, depending on the level of battery charge available.
Drivers without remaining battery on a lap have become sitting ducks to those with charge in store, creating some near-miss incidents.
With the new rules still very new for all drivers and teams, not everyone is deploying and recharging the battery in the same places.
According to Lawson, Racing Bulls in particular have continued to make their own decisions on where and when to deploy and recharge the battery, rather than looking elsewhere.
However, based on the speed differences at times and the lack of opportunity to react, he has warned that avoiding contact is incredibly difficult.
Asked if everyone will begin to deploy and harvest energy at the same time, Lawson told select media including RacingNews365: "I mean, at the moment, it's sort of very inconsistent.
"We're doing lot. We obviously make our own decisions on when we charge and deploy, and it's quite different between teams and engines.
"So, yeah, it obviously depends on what the FIA decide to do, but right now, there's a lot of differences that we have to be quite careful of because you can be having quite a good run on a car, and all of a sudden they start charging, and you're right behind them with SLM open.
"It's not a lot you can do to avoid them."
