Lewis Hamilton heads Austin FP3 as Ferrari complete practice clean sweep

Lewis Hamilton has ended the final practice session from the Circuit of the Americas on top of the timesheet ahead of qualifying for the United States Grand Prix.

The drivers had 60 minutes of running to dial in their cars for the grid-setting session later today and apply the learnings from Friday.

With Hamilton coming out on top, the Ferrari driver ended up over one-tenth ahead of Max Verstappen.

Charles Leclerc rounded out the top three, having topped both practice outings on Friday.

With Ferrari and Red Bull also appearing to be the fastest temas on Friday, the fight is shaping up to be a two-way battle for pole position later today.

Mercedes could not quite inject itself into the FP3 fight, with Kimi Antonelli ending the session in fourth, three-tenths down on the fastest time.

Antonelli enters the race weekend with his first chance of clinching a maiden title, but will need his direct rivals to endure a miserable race result.

His team-mate George Russell was fifth on the road, ahead of the leading McLaren of Oscar Piastri.

Nico Hulkenberg was an impressive seventh for Audi, splitting the McLarens, with Lando Norris managing just the eighth-fastest lap time.

Pierre Gasly brought his Alpine into ninth, while the top 10 was rounded out by Isack Hadjar in the second Red Bull.

However, the Frenchman has caught the attention of the stewards for a late-session incident involving Alex Albon.

Hadjar felt that the Williams driver impeded him into Turn 1 while on a fast lap and proceeded to draw alongside him and block Albon from returning to the track.

Qualifying will take place at 16:00 local time.
