Pirelli has released information about Lewis Hamilton's two-day wet-weather tyre test this week at Fiorano.
Hamilton was behind the wheel of the SF-26 for both days of a wet-weather test at Ferrari's home track, one of a handful of circuits in Europe which can be artificially wetted to allow Pirelli the chance to develop its intermediate and full wet tyre compounds.
Although Hamilton was driving a 2026-spec Ferrari, under the terms of testing, the team is not allowed to test any upgrades or evaluate different engines or car settings. Pirelli dictates the run-plan to the team, with the participants, in this case Hamilton, going in 'blind' and only reporting his feedback to Pirelli.
Hamilton firstly tested the full wet Cinturato prototype tyres, with a new tread design being tested once again after Red Bull and Racing Bulls did so at Suzuka following the Japanese GP.
The idea behind this was to test the crossover point between the full wet and intermediate tyres, which were also evaluated by the seven-time world champion.
On the second day of running, Hamilton completed 461km of running, akin to 155 laps, with a best time of 1:00.470, with a test total of 884km or 297 laps being completed.
Pirelli will be in action once again before F1's return at the Miami Grand Prix, with a two-day dry weather tyre test planned for the Nurburgring on April 14th-15th.
McLaren and Mercedes are due to be in action, with both teams fielding their regular race drivers.
