F1 fans have handed Lando Norris a crushing blow to his F1 title hopes after his late engine failure at the Dutch Grand Prix.

Norris was running second to team-mate and title rival Oscar Piastri in the closing stages at Zandvoort, before his MCL39 ground to a halt with smoke pouring from the car.

Had Norris finished second to Piastri instead of his classified 18th, having completed more than 90% of the race distance, he would have been 16 points behind the Australian, but the gap is now 34 following Piastri's win.

It means that if Piastri were to finish the next five races in second place, Norris would have to win them all to overhaul his team-mate by a single point, with Piastri finishing second to Norris only three times in 15 races thus far.

As such, nearly three-quarters of F1 fans when asked to vote in a RacingNews365 poll, believe Norris's title chances are done and that Piastri will become the 35th F1 world champion.

74.70% of voters believe the title race is over, with just under 5% more opting for 'not sure' over Norris still win the championship.
