Lando Norris confirms McLaren review after latest Oscar Piastri collision

Lando Norris has confirmed that McLaren will conduct a review of the collision between himself and Oscar Piastri at the first corner of the United States Grand Prix Sprint. 

Norris made a slow start from second on the grid at the Circuit of the Americas and opted for an inside line at the first turn, to which Piastri attempted a cut back. 

However, as the championship leader cut back, he found himself sandwiched between Norris and Stake F1's Nico Hulkenberg. 

As a result, Hulkenberg made contact with Fernando Alonso and Piastri, before the latter immediately hit Norris. 

Both McLaren drivers were forced into instant retirements on-track, while the collision was judged as a racing incident by the stewards. Nevertheless, Norris has confirmed a review will take place. 

"Like all things from what we do as a team, it will be reviewed," said Norris. "I think, probably it takes a bit more time to understand everything. And certainly just before qualifying, and probably before the race tomorrow is not the best time. 

"So, yeah, I think things will be reviewed just to understand a few more things, but apart from that, it's nothing I can do. 

"I just have to crack on and and do my own thing. I was pretty unlucky to not have a chance to race earlier. And, yeah, that's not just hurt me today, but also for the race tomorrow, in terms of preparation. 

"So, yeah, difficult time. But I said what I said, and I won't add any more."

Following the accident, McLaren did a superb job to repair both cars for qualifying, where Norris went onto claim second on the grid once again – Max Verstappen claimed pole.

Asked if there was any repercussions to the car in qualifying after the crash, Norris replied: "No, the boys and girls did a good job to get everything back and prepared.

"Obviously never the best preparation for everyone to be rushing to put the car back together. But no, it was all fine."
