Lance Stroll reveals staggering Aston Martin upgrades timeline

Lance Stroll has revealed that Aston Martin will not introduce upgrades until the Dutch Grand Prix, the first race after the summer break.

Aston Martin has yet to introduce upgrades at any round this season, instead prioritising solving issues with its power unit — in particular, the vibrations.

Ahead of the season opener in Australia, team principal Adrian Newey revealed that both Stroll and Fernando Alonso were at risk of possible nerve damage due to the intensity of the vibrations.

To the relief of Stroll and Alonso, the vibration problem was solved during the Miami Grand Prix, enabling both drivers to finish the race.

Discussing if progress is being made, Stroll explained: "Yeah, we fixed the vibrations in Miami, so that was good. 

"We finished the race [in Miami], both cars got to the chequered flag for the first time this season, which I think is a step forward. 

"And now we just need to find a lot more downforce and power. So, when we do that, we’ll be in better shape. So that’s what we’re focused on."

Unfortunately, improving the AMR26's power and downforce is unlikely to happen anytime soon, with the Aston Martin not expected to introduce new parts until Zandvoort.

Asked when an upgrade will be introduced, Stroll revealed: "We have an upgrade for Spa or the one after Spa. I don’t know which one… Zandvoort, yeah. 

"Is it going to be enough to fight for the front? No. But yeah, these things don’t happen overnight, so everyone’s pushing as hard as possible and we’re doing everything we can to bring as much lap time to the car as quickly as we can."
