Former Formula 1 driver David Coulthard has identified Charles Leclerc's key "flaw" as being that the Ferrari driver has "whiteouts", following his huge accident in the Italian Grand Prix.
For the second time in his F1 career, Leclerc crashed out at Parabolica, silencing the Tifosi at the end of what was only the second lap.
Leclerc ran wide at the final turn while defending against Oscar Piastri, before dipping two tyres beyond the white line on the outside of the corner and touching a lengthy drain cover.
It unsettled the Monegasque's SF-26 and appeared to catch Leclerc by surprise, as his car darted off into the barrier at high speed.
He suffered temporary vision problems after the accident, but was quickly cleared by the medical centre as being okay.
It was a similar accident to the one that saw Leclerc crash out of the 2020 Italian GP, with him proving to have a tendency to make mistakes in costly situations.
Coulthard is unsure exactly how Leclerc has managed to crash twice at a turn where very few incidents occur, but has described the Ferrari driver as being prone to an occasional "glitch".
Discussing Leclerc's crash, Coulthard told the Up to Speed podcast: "Charles Leclerc is really, really talented because he's managed to crash in the same place twice, and I'm trying to get my head round a corner where you don't normally crash, especially there.
"What is it with him that's enabled him to get it wrong at the same place and have kind of the same crash twice? And I can only imagine the flaw in his brilliance is he has kind of whiteouts.
"He just has a little glitch, and at that moment of the glitch, it's so difficult to put into words, he just gets it wrong, doesn't he?
"Which, thankfully, he was okay. But huge crash, and done that in '20 and '26? It's pretty impressive."
