Silverstone CEO Stuart Pringle has been appointed an Officer of the Order of the British Empire (OBE) in the 2026 King’s New Year Honours List, in recognition of his services to motorsport.
Pringle has been part of the leadership structure at Silverstone, which is the home of the British Grand Prix, since 2006, when he became Club Secretary of the British Racing Drivers’ Club (BRDC), the members’ organisation that owns and operates the Northamptonshire circuit.
The BRDC reinvests all profits back into the sport, supporting driver development pathways that have included current Formula 1 names such as Sir Lewis Hamilton, Lando Norris, George Russell and Oliver Bearman.
He was appointed CEO of Silverstone in 2017 and has overseen a period of major change at one of motorsport’s most historic venues.
During his tenure, Silverstone has secured the long-term future of the F1 British Grand Prix, one of the most prestigious and best-attended races on the F1 calendar, while also delivering a series of multi-million-pound infrastructure projects.
These developments include the Silverstone Museum, which charts the circuit’s role in British motorsport history, the recently launched Escapade trackside accommodation overlooking the circuit, and Kart Silverstone, which is set to open soon.
Under Pringle’s leadership, Silverstone has expanded its position beyond racing to become a year-round leisure and entertainment destination.
Former F1 driver David Coulthard MBE, who is President of the British Racing Drivers’ Club, said: "Stuart’s passion for, and dedication to, Silverstone and the British Racing Drivers’ Club over the past twenty years, combined with his strategic vision to create a year-round leisure destination with motorsport at its core, will secure the future of our world-famous circuit for generations to come.
"We are delighted that this has been recognised and it is an incredibly proud moment for our circuit and the club."
Silverstone is widely regarded as the home of British Motorsport and is one of the most iconic sporting venues in the world.
The circuit attracts more than 1.5 million visitors each year, operates 365 days a year and promotes major international events including MotoGP and endurance racing.
In recent years, it has also hosted high-profile music concerts and expanded its non-track offerings, reinforcing its status as a leading UK entertainment and leisure destination alongside its central role in global motorsport.
Reacting to the honour, Pringle added: "I am deeply honoured to receive this recognition. It reflects the dedication and hard work of the entire team at Silverstone and the support and encouragement that we receive from the British Racing Drivers’ Club.
"Motorsport has always been about more than just one individual and at Silverstone we have a world class team. I am totally indebted to my inspirational colleagues who continue to set new standards in sport and deliver on a scale which is truly world leading."
