Who is David Coulthard?

Throughout David Coulthard's career, spanning from 1994 to 2008, he raced for Williams, McLaren, and Red Bull Racing. Coulthard achieved a total of thirteen victories and started from pole position eleven times. His most successful season was in 2001, when he became vice-world champion with two wins, behind Michael Schumacher. Coulthard's debut came quite abruptly as he replaced the deceased Ayrton Senna at Williams. He managed to establish himself and remained a contender in the upper echelons of Formula 1 for many years. Since 2022, Coulthard has been working as an analyst for Viaplay.

David Coulthard at Williams and McLaren

David Coulthard made his Formula 1 debut in 1994 with the Williams F1 team. This happened quite unexpectedly after he replaced the late Ayrton Senna. During his time at Williams, Coulthard achieved some impressive results, including his first victory at the Portuguese Grand Prix in 1995. He also regularly made it to the podium and gained a reputation as a talented and competitive driver.

In 1996, Coulthard moved to the McLaren team, where he would enjoy a long and successful period. He became teammates with Mika Häkkinen, and together they formed a strong duo. Coulthard achieved multiple victories during his time at McLaren, including some significant wins such as the British Grand Prix and the Monaco Grand Prix. He consistently battled for the championship and finished as runner-up several times behind his teammate Häkkinen.

David Coulthard at Red Bull

David Coulthard's time at Red Bull Racing was characterized by his experience and leadership on and off the track. He joined the team in 2005 when Red Bull was still an emerging force in Formula 1. Coulthard brought a wealth of knowledge and expertise with him, which he used to help the team grow and develop.

Although Red Bull Racing's performance at that time was not yet at the level of the top teams, Coulthard managed to consistently score points and propel the team forward. His experience proved to be invaluable in developing the car and guiding the younger drivers within the team.
