Red Bull has turned its iconic 2012-championship winning RB8 car into a 'train' on the Madrid Metro to celebrate F1's return to the Spanish capital.
For the first time since 1981, F1 will race in Madrid this weekend at the Madring circuit, and in preparation, the team has transformed Sebastian Vettel's 2012 title winner into a machine capable of running on the Spanish underground network.
The "unique" engineering challenge featured bespoke metal wheels, weighing 29.8kg, with former F1 racer Patrick Friesacher keeping the car on the rails between the Estadio Metropolitiano (home of Atletico Madrid) and the Sacedal and Chamartin depots.
"It was an unbelievable experience. I've been lucky enough to experience a lot with our Heritage team, but driving an F1 car on railway tracks was surreal.
"It's very cool to add Metro driver to the resume."
