In the 2026 F1 season, the power units are made of seven different components, with drivers allowed to use a certain number of examples of each before incurring a grid penalty.
The parts are as follows.
Internal Combustion Engine (ICE), turbocharger, MGU-K, Energy Store (ES), Control Electronics (CE), Power Unit Auxiliary Components (PU-ANC) and exhausts.
Drivers can use four ICEs and turbochargers, penalty-free, with three MGU-Ks, ESs and CEs also permitted, with four exhausts and six PU-ANCs.
The first time a driver exceeds the allocation for the component concerned, they incur a 10-place grid penalty, with a further five places for each subsequent part.
