Sergio Perez has highlighted the next two to three months as a pivotal window that will help shape Cadillac's future in F1, with the fledgling team preparing to make key decisions on its 2027 car.

Cadillac joined the grid this year as the sport's 11th team and has spent much of 2026 at the back of the field, sitting bottom of the constructors' standings on zero points as it comes to grips with the demands of the sport.

Perez is spearheading the development of the car alongside fellow F1 veteran Valtteri Bottas, with the pair bringing a combined wealth of experience to a team still finding its feet at the highest level of motorsport.

Cadillac is still working to fine-tune its structure as it gets up to speed, a challenge Perez readily acknowledges.

"I think being a new team gives you massive challenges, but also big opportunities," Perez told media including RacingNews365. "We have very experienced people who have done it before.

"Obviously the whole team wants to see more progress in all areas and more structure, so we are in that process of structuring everything out.

"Being a new team, there are so many challenges. We seem to be facing those issues that other teams are facing. We are in a proper fight, and trying to structure our team as best as possible."

Cadillac will soon look to start the construction of its 2027 car as it hopes to take a leap up the pecking order, marking a crucial period for the team.

"We are at a critical stage where I think the next two, three months are critical in our future, in terms of development into next year's ideas and decisions that the team needs to take for next year," Perez explained.

"Now it's a very critical period for our team."
