Horner reveals Red Bull fear as they switch from 'hunter to hunted'

As Red Bull dominate Formula 1, they will start to catch the eye of other teams looking for a taste of that success.

Red Bull Team Principal Christian Horner has revealed his biggest fear as they dominate Formula 1. The team looks set to sweep both the Drivers' and Constructors' titles at some point in the second half of the season, as Max Verstappen outclasses the field and Red Bull lead Mercedes by over 200 points. So far they have been unchallenged at the front, but Horner believes there are other problems they must tackle while they enter a period of domination. "The challenges are always different because, when you’re the hunter, you’ve got everybody focussed on the target ahead of you; when you suddenly become the hunted, it’s a different type of pressure," he told media, including RacingNews365. "We have numerous approaches from all these guys, chasing all our staff, sponsors, you name it. And I think getting there is one thing, staying there is another."

Horner: We're taking it one race at a time

A key member of Red Bull's inner car development circuit, Rob Marshall, left the team earlier this year after being poached by McLaren. While team personnel moves are not uncommon in F1, they have increased since the introduction of the cost cap as teams have more room to make competitive offers. Horner points towards a key cultural aspect when trying to retain staff: "I think the spirit, the culture that we have within the team is something that we’ve got great strength in depth and have enjoyed great continuity over a long period of time, which again is so important in this business." Keeping the intensity levels high is also important for Red Bull, which enables people to stay focused on their objectives. "I think we’re very much taking it one race at a time, one session at a time. And I think you have to focus like that. And, you know, nobody's allowing their mind to drift. "It’s a long, long championship and I think there’s a lot going on behind the scenes with Red Bull Powertrains, as that's gearing up as well in the background in Milton Keynes, with 2026 not being all that far away now. So, plenty to keep people focused on."
