Isack Hadjar's injured wrist is in much better condition and has improved considerably since he opted to sit out the Dutch Grand Prix, RacingNews365 understands.
The Red Bull driver injured his left wrist while training ahead of the trip to Zandvoort and elected to sit out the round as a precaution, in order to prevent further aggravation.
Liam Lawson stepped into the second RB22 alongside Max Verstappen and put in an impressive performance, securing seventh place on his return to Red Bull.
Yuki Tsunoda deputised for the New Zealander at Racing Bulls and finished ahead of regular driver Arvid Lindblad in P11, narrowly missing out on points of his own.
Both Hadjar and the Milton Keynes-based team are hopeful the injury was a one-off and that the 21-year-old will be back in his cockpit for the Italian Grand Prix at Monza next weekend, with both parties understood to be optimistic about the prospect.
RacingNews365 also understands that a final decision is expected next Wednesday, shortly before the round gets underway, to maximise time for rehabilitation.
In addition to the expected medical checks, simulator running provides a viable way of assessing Hadjar's readiness to race, although it is unknown exactly how Red Bull plans to evaluate the Frenchman.
Should the one-time podium finisher be unable to race, Red Bull and Racing Bulls will likely retain the same driver pairings they used at Zandvoort.
