The #7 Toyota crew won the 2026 Le Mans 24 Hours following a Sunday team orders row with the sister #8 car.

On Sunday morning, Brendon Hartley was leading overall in the #8, and was asked to let the following Nyck de Vries through on the Mulsanne Straight, with the Dutchman expressing his frustration that the New Zealander was not following instructions.

De Vries, on 27-lap fresher tyres, was eventually told to hold back, and that his car would pass the #8 through an upcoming pit-stop cycle, which is what happened.

Kamui Kobayashi and Sebastien Buemi then took over the respective cars, with the Toyota boss guiding his #7 home to a second overall win with team-mate Mike Conway. For de Vries, it is a first overall win, having not been part of the #7 crew in 2021.

Buemi, struggling with a lack of tyres, was able to take third after being passed by the #20 BMW with Robin Frijns at the wheel in the final hour.

The #12 Cadillac took fourth having run off sequence, with the #51 Ferrari being the lead Scuderia effort in fifth, but over 100 seconds down on Kobayashi.

LMP2 class honours went to the #43 Inter Europol Competition team of Jakub Smiechowski, Tom Dillmann and Nick Yelloly after long-time leaders in the #30 broke down with brake failure on Sunday morning, putting the crew out, including Mercedes F1 junior Doriane Pin.

LMGT3 was won comfortably by the #33 Corvette Racing squad, in part built by a strong night effort from Nicky Catsburg, as Jonny Edgar brought the car home for class honours with Ben Keating completing the winning crew.
