The FIA has released a statement after three separate motorsport events featured fatal accidents on Saturday, resulting in three tragic deaths.
Racing driver Julian Grimwade sadly passed away following a crash at Donnington Park in the United Kingdom, whilst competing in the Vintage Sports Car Club championship.
In the Jim Clark Rally in Scotland, co-driver Dai Roberts, 39, was killed following a crash which has also left driver James Williams, 27, with serious injuries. The remainder of the rally has been cancelled.
A 69-year-old official whose details are yet to be released by the Danish authorities also sadly died in Denmark in the Nykøbing Falster Motor Sport’s Anniversary Rally, after he was struck by a car, caused by the driver losing control.
Another official, a 64-year-old man, was also hit and is in a serious condition in hospital. It marks a dark day for world motorsport, with the FIA having offered its full support to all impacted by the tragic events which took place on Saturday.
The FIA's statement on X read: "The FIA is saddened to learn of the tragic incidents today at the Jim Clark Rally in Scotland, Vintage Motorsport Festival at Donnington Park and Nykøbing Falster Motor Sport’s Anniversary Rally in Denmark.
"We extend our heartfelt condolences to the family, friends, and loved ones of those who have sadly lost their lives. Our thoughts are also with those injured in the accidents and we send our best wishes to them for their full and swift recovery.
"The FIA offers its support to Motorsport UK and The Danish Automobile Sports Federation at this difficult time and stands alongside all those affected.
"The tragic incidents today have united our global motor sport community as we reaffirm the FIA’s full support to our members, officials and competitors."
